Carla Bozulich is an American musician born in New York City and based in Los Angeles. She is the founding member of the band ‘Ethyl Meatplow’ and she is known for her work as the lead singer of the band ‘The Geraldine Fibbers’.
Carla Bozulich started her musical career in 1982 by giving her first performance in Gary Kail’s album ‘Creative Nihilism’. She has played in various bands like “Invisible Chains”, “Neon Veins”, “Scott Amendola Band”, “The Book of Knots”, “The Night Porter”, “The Nels Cline Singers”, “Scarnella”, “Geraldine Fibbers” and “Ethyl Meatplow”. Carla has given live performances with many musicians, which include Watt, Christian Marclay, Thurston Moore, Carla Kihstedt, Wilco, Wayne Kramer, Italian guitarist Simone Massaron, Okyyung Lee and others.
Carla Bozulich founded the band ‘Geraldine Fibbers’ in 1994, which initially included Daniel Keenan, William Tutton, Kevin Fitzgerald and Jessy Greene. The bands music was a combination of American roots music and blues-influenced punk. Keenan and Greene departed from the band in 1996; Nels Cline replaced them as the band was shifting to a more guitar-rock sound. Two more members joined the band, Jessica Moss and Leyna Marika on violin. The band released many singles, albums and EP’s.
Carla Bozulich gave the performances at two “All Tomorrows Parties” festivals and at two “Bad Bonn Kilbi” festivals as a solo artist. She performed “The Ballad of the Lily of Hall’ at the Meltdown Festival in London which is the composition of Bertolt Brecht/Kurt Julian Weill.
Carla Bozulich released her album ‘Evangelista’ on Constellation Records which received high praise and lead the band to tour around Europe and North America. Carla’s project was officially named as ‘Evangelista’ in 2007 and released two albums ‘Hello’ and ‘Voyager’ under this name.
